Dylgayak is a pagan holiday of spring and equinox. The people of the Altai Mountains celebrate this spring holiday every year as a symbol of the renewal of life, purification, and expectation of the best changes.

People gather together and arrange festive events to celebrate this holiday. As the culmination of the celebration people gather to burn stuffed dolls in a bonfire as a symbol of the outgoing year.
